How do push notifications work without an app?
Wallet passes support native push notifications through Apple and Google's infrastructure. You can send scheduled campaigns, event-triggered messages (purchase, tier change, reward available), and location-based alerts. All delivered to the lock screen.
What information displays on the loyalty card?
Points balance, VIP tier, member name, and barcode/QR for identification. The back of the card links to a rewards profile, referral program, and your store. Everything updates in real time.

What is Multipass and how does it work?
Shopify Multipass lets customers access their store account directly from the wallet pass without entering a password. One tap from the card to a logged-in session on your store.
Do Apple Wallet and Google Wallet show the same features for loyalty customers?
Yes, the customer experience is functionally identical: live point balance on the pass front, tier and reward details on the back, push notifications on changes, and lock-screen presence near a known store location. The visual layouts differ slightly because each platform has its own design language, but every feature on Apple Wallet has a parity feature on Google Wallet.
Can a wallet pass be used at a brick-and-mortar Shopify POS?
Yes. The pass uses standard NFC, the same protocol Shopify POS Pro readers already support for Apple Pay and Google Pay. Tap the phone on the reader and the loyalty profile loads instantly. If your POS hardware is older, the fallback is a QR code on the pass or a phone-number lookup in the Shopify POS app.
